Partner Programs

In addi­tion to our core pro­grams, VII Academy pro­vides schol­ar­ships and oth­er sup­port to a vari­ety of edu­ca­tion­al pro­grams for visu­al jour­nal­ists across the world. Scholarship stu­dents have attend­ed work­shops orga­nized by VII Interactive, WARM Foundation, KUMA International, Myanmar Deitta, and many oth­ers. VII Academy also runs the Foundry Photojournalism Workshops, which wel­comed over 80 stu­dents for a week of edu­ca­tion and col­lab­o­ra­tion in Kigali, Rwanda in 2019.

The VII Academy is pleased to sup­port four stu­dents with schol­ar­ships to attend this women-only work­shop, which focus­es on cul­ti­vat­ing your own authen­tic voice through nar­ra­tive and doc­u­men­tary prac­tice. From idea to pub­li­ca­tion, par­tic­i­pants will work on per­son­al pho­to­graph­ic projects that will be reviewed and cri­tiqued in an inter­ac­tive online envi­ron­ment by Nichole and Anush over a 10-week peri­od.

It’s geared to indi­vid­u­als inter­est­ed in under­stand­ing and improv­ing their brand vis­i­bil­i­ty whether in print­ed or dig­i­tal form.

Bookmaking Online Masterclass with Philip Blenkinsop & Daniel Schwartz

The Masterclass–which meets online–addresses the crit­i­cal peri­od between the last phase of a pho­to­graph­ic project and the moment when you decide to look for a pub­lish­er. In oth­er words, the peri­od when you need to exer­cise the author’s author­i­ty but still want to lis­ten to those with expe­ri­ence in mak­ing books. It aims to define a book that trans­mits the author’s nar­ra­tive to the view­er and is in itself an ade­quate three-dimensional rep­re­sen­ta­tion of con­tent and propo­si­tion.

The Original Masterclass with Stefano De Luigi & Maciek Nabrdalik

The VII Masterclass is one of the most ambi­tious and exhaus­tive train­ing pro­grams avail­able. It aims to devel­op and con­sol­i­date new tal­ent in doc­u­men­tary pho­tog­ra­phy and pho­to­jour­nal­ism over a peri­od of three months. It is struc­tured around three sem­i­nars with work­shop ses­sions and mul­ti­ple one-on-one inter­ac­tions woven in between. The prin­ci­pal objec­tive of this Masterclass is to allow time for progress to devel­op, and for the long-term struc­ture to have a last­ing con­tri­bu­tion to your pro­fes­sion­al train­ing.
